ELECTRIC IMAGE v1.1
(C)1990 OffWorld Software
written by Nigel Head
Electric Image is a share-ware art program written in STOS Basic
for the ST and will run in all three screen modes. It was originally
written because all the (reasonably priced) art programs around at the
time lacked some features that I considered necessary, eg. masks
for airbrushing and colour switching.
The program auto-boots and will offer to print out a manual for
you if you press the HELP key while on the main menu. If you don't
have a printer Electric Image will let you read it from the screen.
Electric Image consists of three programs, one for each screen
mode on the ST, and a runner program called ELEC.PRG. The runner
program merely displays a loading screen and offers the choice of
medium or low resolution, if you are not using a mono monitor.
The other three programs work perfectly well independently, but do
need the files HELP.TXT and PAL.PAL to be in the same directory.
The programs don't need to be auto-loaded but you may run into
memory problems on a ST520 if you try to use them from the GEM
desk top. (GEM uses 32k).
An improved version is planned, as is a full printed manual. See
the end of this file for details about registering.
FEATURES ADDED SINCE THE ONLINE MANUAL WAS WRITTEN
You can alter the default colours of the program by running it,
setting the colours you want with the palette option and then
saving the palette onto the program disk with the file name PAL.
It is possible to set the colours to make the menu screen and
mouse invisible. If this happens, you can go to the palette screen
by pressing ESC, waiting a few seconds, then pressing UNDO to
set colours 0 and 1 to black and white.
A QUICK TIP
The easiest way to transfer something to screen (if you can't afford
a scanner) is to trace it onto clear plastic (a plastic bag will
do) with a marker pen, then tape this to the screen. It can now be
traced from within Electric Image. (That's how the 'OffWorld'
lettering on the title screen was done.)
ELECTRIC IMAGE
Electric Image is a shareware program. Please feel free to copy
it and give away copies but make sure that all the files on the
disk are included.
PicSwitch 7 is also included on the disk. This program is also
shareware and is written by John Brochu. It has nothing to do with
me, but you may find it useful for converting screens from one mode
to another. PLEASE NOTE, registering for Electric Image does not
mean you have registered for PicSwitch 7. The programs are entirely
separate.
To register for Electric Image please send £5 (cheques payable to
N. D. Head), along with your name, address and ST set up
(mono/colour, RAM, etc) to:
Nigel Head
87 Chipstead Valley Road
Coulsdon
Surrey
CR5 3BP
I would also be pleased to see any pictures you create with the
program. (Disks won't be returned without a stamped addressed
envelope.)
I hope you enjoy using Electric Image.
